HATZOLAH

Hatzolah, which means “rescue”, is a nonprofit EMS organization founded in 1965 in Brooklyn, NY. The vision for Hatzolah was to improve the response time to medical emergencies and to provide personnel familiar with the culture and languages of the Jewish community. Hatzolah, the largest nonprofit ambulance service in America, has since morphed into an international network of volunteers. Hatzolah is on-call 24/7/365

Hatzolah of Los Angeles was formed to enhance pre-hospital care and develop a higher level of emergency preparedness and support in the Los Angeles community by augmenting the existing services provided by the municipalities. In medical situations where every second counts, community members deserve to have access to the best possible care.

Hatzolah volunteers stabilize patients quickly until transport or other medical emergency resources arrive on scene. Hatzolah members are trained in both emergency medicine and Jewish law, and with an understanding of the unique needs of the community, are sensitive to cultural considerations and can direct patients to go to the hospital when they may not otherwise.
